North flank of Mt Campbell are some older steel marker posts with diamond shapes, yellow paint maybe drilling markers? Perhaps someone knows what why when how?

I had someone ask me about these recently. Any thoughts appreciated. How many are there? Will make sure to check them out next time I'm up at Cradle. I do recall a ranger once telling me that they used to source/deposit a lot of gravel etc for track work up on Mt Campbell for easier transport to the overland. Perhaps something to do with that??
