I came across some interesting software - the Canon Hack Development Kit. It is a firmware add-on (loaded from the SD card) that implements a bunch of extra feature for Canon Powershot and Ixus cameras. Some of the most interesting features for me are:
- RAW image recording
- Automatic exposure bracketing
- On-screen exposure information, including under- and over-exposed areas
- Triggering shots with motion detection.
- ... heaps more!
I haven't tried it out yet (hopefully tonight) but it certainly appears to have potential to increase the flexibility and usefulness of my camera. I'll report back when I've had a chance to have a good play with it.
Cheers,
