Wow Tortoise, that is such a good photo. The best I've seen for ages. It's a calender cover photo.
So was it right place - right time or were you sitting there with numb legs and bum for hours???

Wow, thanks for that, Tibbs. And thanks for the vote of confidence, folks. I find it really hard to be objective with my shots. I would have voted for somebody else's (and what a choice there was!) if I'd voted.

It was very definitely right place at the right time - but I'm now planning on trying to replicate the conditions. I started back from Waterfall Valley Hut at nearly 5.30pm, having helped some friends doing the OLT. That was much later than I planned, for reasons I was quite grumpy about at the time. But as the sun was setting, and I had the plateau to myself, with magic light, no wind and oceans of cloud in the valleys, my cup was overflowing big time. :D

I nearly didn't submit the photo, because it's too soft - i can't get sharp shots on either of my cameras. :( So thanks, naturelover, for saying you liked it a while ago, which made me cautiously enter it here. Not happy with the contrast & brightness - it doesn't capture the real glow, but there you go.

Actually it was just a little pool east of the track between Kitchen Hut and Marions.

Such a cool looking mountain is Cradle.
Reckon! I never get tired of it.

 Tortise just dong up with the self criticism next time, take the compliments and say yep I'm good aren't I. You should have been there, I swear you could hear Angels singing it was that magical! :D Now I'm looking at it with your insecure overly critical eye which is trying to spoil the pic grrrr

Seriously I still like it, though better luck with getting the prefect shot next time

Think I've got it now - will keep thoughts to self instead of telling people why they shouldn't have voted for my shot. Maybe I'll think re aiming for a better camera one day. :)
