ECW fromat on a MAC OSX?

I suspect this might be a long-shot but I am chasing if possible an app to read *.ecw map files on OSX or if that is a fail an app that can read them on an Windows 8 notebook.

Don't know about OSX, but for Windows there is ERDAS ER Viewer 2014 v14.01 - download from

Oziexplorer can import ecw files.

MacGPS Pro can apparently read .ecw files

You could also use QGIS though on osx is not included by default as with the windows installer.
The faq has a mention of ecw files.
