ECW fromat on a MAC OSX?

I suspect this might be a long-shot but I am chasing if possible an app to read *.ecw map files on OSX or if that is a fail an app that can read them on an Windows 8 notebook.

Don't know about OSX, but for Windows there is ERDAS ER Viewer 2014 v14.01 - download from http://download.intergraph.com/downloads/erdas-er-viewer-2014-v14.01

Oziexplorer can import ecw files.

You could also use QGIS though on osx is not included by default as with the windows installer.
The faq has a mention of ecw files.
