Shouldn't this be in the advertising thread? Or did you forget to read the rules?

Shouldn't avid hikers have a real compass that works even with flat batteries? One that can easily be calibrated and isn't affected by temperature as much.

Sure, for shopping centers a compass app may be useful.

How do you avoid device to device variability and how often do you force re-calibration?

Nice little app. My issue with these is why use a graphic skin that wastes screen realestate? It's on a smartphone and it no longer have to look like a dedicated GPS. The only reason to do so is to attract sales from the non-serious 'fun' users, in which case it would not be of interest to most of us. It'd be much better to have a more functional interface design that fully use the available screen space.
Just move it!
