GPS: Upgrade from Foretrex 401 to Fenix 2. Thoughts?

Postby oyster_07 » Sun 15 Feb, 2015 7:39 pm

I am in a position whereby I can sell my Foretrex 401 GPS and buy a new Fenix 2, with almost no additional outlay.

I have a solar charger and can easily get a charger that will charge the Fenix directly from AA or AAA batteries.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Sounds alright, although wondering if the prices will come down with the release of the Fenix 3 and Epix.

A suggestion for charging though - you might be better to recharge using a lithium ion USB battery pack rather than AA/AAA batteries. I use a 5000mAh USB battery pack that I can recharge with a solar panel on longer walks, and the USB battery pack charges devices.

That is certainly another charging option.
I'm seriously considering this upgrade, yet just want to make sure it's worthwhile.
