Hi everyone, i use my Samsung excover mobile running a "Maverick" GPS app, and have worked out a nice way to recharge spare batteries on the fly without plugging into the mobile, i bought a usb multi fit battery charger on ebay and plug that into a solar powered power bank (i have a solio classic 2 and another unbranded Chinese one), i hang the solio or the other one off the back of my pack, if not used to charge things they charge themselves, once i drain a phone battery i swap it out for a charged one then i connect the drained one up to charge and continue walking, checking its recharge state after an hour and continue on my merry way, i have 4 after market high capacity batteries that i carry (1 in phone and 3 spares) before setting this system up i'd just make it through a 8 hr day (GPS etc on all the time is a big drain on mobiles) now in good sun conditions i can do multi day walks... i have a 7w power only (no storage)solar panel on its way so i can see what the benefits to weight etc ratios are for longer walks off grid....
not too sure if its still available but this is the link for the charger unit..
