Pack security cable lock???

Pack security cable lock with alarm..

..so what do you use, one that goes around your pack to a pole. What if there is no pole!

I'm paranoid of having my back pack leave unbeknown to me before I do! I've had them walk before and have invested in cable mesh locks before which just work well. This one incorporates a 95 db piezo screamer if moved! So if I'm settling down to lunch and someone gets too interested while I'm relaxing.. BIFFO!

Targus Defcon 1 Ultra - Security Alarm cable lock

Retractable Stainless Steel Cable: 2.3 mm diameter; 0.9m long
Electronic Alarm: Loud, 95db alarm siren arms when lock is engaged. Alarm activated when cable is severed and when motion sensor is armed and triggered. Alarm is deactivated when combination lock is released.
Motion Sensor: High and low sensitivity modes. Triggered when device is moved. If motion continues for 4 seconds, alarm will sound for 40 seconds, device then resets to “armed” status.
Combination Lock: Controls lock, electronic alarm, access to battery door and motion sensor. Re-settable to one of 10,000 unique combinations.

Well actually my back pack does spend quite some time in airports..

Sorry guys but you have misunderstood me.

I'm looking for ways to secure my pack if I have to leave it unattended in a public place.

I am using the above device but seeking others suggestions in this thread..

In the present post-911 climate, that security net won't be useful as security staff don't like to see unattended luggage in public places. They are more useful in hostels. As for in the bush, it's quite a bit of weight to carry.
Just move it!

i think the mesh ones that cover your bag like that will invite trouble. these pack security products are only effective against petty thieves, a determined thief will always find a way, especially with a canvas/fabric/etc bag.

i have used something similar to this in the past

http://pacsafe.com/bucklesafe-100-backp ... epted-lock

it stops someone knicking off with your bag, and it's a lot more discrete and easier to carry.
