TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Water FIltration - Best bladder to use with Sawyer Squeeze

Postby adventuremum » Sun 31 May, 2020 10:56 am

Hi
About to purchase Sawyer Squeeze
Wondering what bladders people have found best to use as dirty water bag with Squeeze?
(eg directly connects & balance between durability & weight)
    hydrapack seeker  2litre 78g
Cnoc 2L Vecto Water Bladder 76g
    evenew 1.5 litre 36g
    evenew 2.0 litre 42g
Does 2 litre Platypus connect?
    PLATYPUS 2L classic 30g
    PLATYPUS DUOLOCK BOTTLE 2L, 50g
With clean water, can I just squeeze into my platy, or will I need wider diameter bottle or bladder?
Thanks

I don't use a filter but have both the evernew bags and the standard Sawyer ones.

The evernew bags are excellent quality and last ages.

Lots of people use the Knoc ones as they are easier to fill and clean. I'd be a bit more careful with it in your pack though.

more options...
Uswe make a recyclable hydration bladder...28mm thread.

HydroBlu also make a 2litre callapsible canteen pouch
Along with the Versa Flow...another lightweight filter option.
Screws onto a 28mm bottle or bladder thread. No round gasket/'o'ring to loose, no added plunger for backflush (squeeze your clean water bottle or clean water bladder to backflush).

Choices...depending on the water source, is a small diameter screw top nozzle easier to fill than a slide top wide mouth bladder ?
Mountain views are good for my soul...& getting to them is good for my waistline !

I use a 2L Platypus and it works perfectly fine, I prefer it over the supplied one purely due to size

I have the CNOC which I use with the standard Sawyer and a mini. It's been a really good robust product that I`d happily recommend.

I use a 2lt Evernew bladder which has gone great. Definitely harder to fill from shallow/low flow areas though compared to wide mouth ones like the Conc or a solid water bottle.
I've looked into changing over to Conc but have said 'when the Evernew breaks' and it shows no signs of wear so I'll enjoy the Evernew a while longer I think.

I just carry the original Sawyer ones - carry a couple of spares in case I need to load up on water.
