I have a Mont Austral rain coat that is no longer waterproof. I bought it ten years ago and it has had a moderate amount of use, maybe worn 30 or 40 times. The problem is the usual thing where the pack harness straps rub around the shoulders (causing the fabric to stretch and/or rub in sweat and dirt?). It is made of Hydronaut breathable fabric, the blurb label says to wash the garment and warm iron. I have done this a few times but I still get wet across the shoulders when I wear it in the rain which is undesirable to say the least, viz. a relatively heavy piece of kit no doing its job properly. So what to do? A mate has suggested spray-on reproofing stuff but someone else has told me such products should not be used on breathable fabrics like Goretex, Hydronaut etc. Ok, ok, ten years is a pretty good run, it works out at $29.90 per year, I could just bin it one make do with a bin liner.
