TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.
An interesting article about American fashion but what is it with Americans and there egos that force them to claim to be the inventors of everything! This "fake news" story goes back to 1911 https://www.coolantarctica.com/Antarctica%20fact%20file/science/clothing_in_antarctica_2.php and shows layering and experimentation was going on at the turn of the century, well before WWII. In fact people have been laying and experiementing with clothing for thousands of years.
I think if you read it slightly more carefully the claim is not to have "invented" layering but to the scientific investigation of its effectiveness. Article fails to mention Pail Siple too
