TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Any use Lizzy? I was reading this-seems simple enough and Alan Dixon is very reliable.

Thanks Lamont. Looks interesting too- a little more expensive and awkward looking but I do like my Sawyer gravity

If it's for travelling, then how about a Steripen instead? It's easy to use both outdoors as well as in hotel/hostel, for bottles as well for cups.
Just move it!

I am a bit biased about steripens- I had one years ago & it would be a bit fickle and not always turn on. Maybe they are better now?

Not sure of your model etc but mine works perfectly well and reliably. Quite compact and good for overseas trips. An extra level of security for hotel and other water sources.

LifeStraw make a bottle version also. Its called, 'LifeStraw Go' - however, I don't think they will filter viruses whereas the Grayl does.

Depends on what you want to get rid off.

Steripen should kill viri and bact.. but does not remove chemicals or heavy metals.

The Grayl is supposed to remove viri and bact and chemicals and heavy metals ...
The fill2Pure is supposed to do the same .. and have published a lab test ..I'd tend to go with them if you need that kind of filter.
