PMs

Postby Stroller » Tue 19 Jul, 2016 2:55 pm

When i send a message why doesn't it just go. I've just replied to some. It clicked submit. It just sits in my outbox. Why does it do that. Why doesn't it just get sent straight off? Its frustration because its also hard to tell if and when it actually goes.

It identifies the messages as not have been read by the counter party.

When you send a PM it sits in the outbox until it's read by the reciever (as mentioned by GPS). Once the PM had been read it will then appear in 'Sent messages'.
Sometimes, I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

That's *&%$#! up. Usually you send something before it can be read. So should i just assume i've sent it once i've clicked send.

PMs

It is a local message, not email. It doesn't get "sent" anywhere. It just sits on the server waiting to be read.
You know it has been read when it is moved to Sent.

Well instead of saying message sent, it should message has been read. And outbox should be message pending. Or something less ambiguous than outbox.

btw what looks like a swear word above is only teh word a*rse as in a*rse up.

Well corvus in every other instance i've seen the word outbox, if there's something sitting in it, it means it hasn't gone out and can't be read. Why should i know it means something different here in this forum. I've never encountered this on any other forum. Usually i hit send or sumit and off it goes. Its pretty straightforward. You can even see its gone out. This forum is completely different to every other forum i've used. Of course i'm for real.

Stroller, are you genuinely suggesting the entire system should be changed in order to accommodate one single person who doesn't like it?
The rest of us have adapted. Many have even checked the FAQs or done a quick search on previously asked (and repeatedly answered) questions and found out about this without starting extra threads.

Much as it pains me to say this:

erm no i suggested no such thing. I merely asked how it works and then complained that its not a good system because its different from what everyone else does.

Do you think this question has been repeatedly asked and answered before. You'd think if that was the case, they might have changed the system. anyhow, now that i understand how it works, i can relax and get on with stuff.

Actually, many forums work this way, as they use the same forum hosting software. Just learn to accept a geeky thing.
