URL link not showing in Tapatalk

Just noticed that some URL links aren't showing in Tapatalk (latest client on iOS). An example being that in the first post.

Yes, I fixed some hyperlinks in another thread recently.
They were not enclosed in URL tags.
I'm not sure why this happening. Perhaps some posters expect a hyperlink will be generated automatically.
For certainty hyperlinks must be enclosed within [url][/url] tags.
If you find a link that is broken, quoting the post will reveal the URL.

Thanks Ron. It's also not understandable why URL's without the tag would not even displace in Tapatalk. They should just be treated as regular texts. Maybe it's a Tapatalk app bug.

In the post you linked to, it may be because they've been abbreviated (by the PHPBB forum software) by replacing some of the URL text with elipses ("..."). PHPBB will do the right thing and link to the full URL. It may be that Tapatalk is getting the abbreviated URL only?

As RonK said, this should not be a problem for URLs formatted correctly using the 'url' tags, as they include the link URL explicitly, separate to the linked text.

No, Tapatalk is getting the full URL, but without tags.
It would be interesting to know what browser was used to create the link. I suspect some browser recognises it's a URL and doesn't encapsulate with tags.

From my end, it's only invisible when viewed from within Tapatalk (iOS). No problem when read using a browser (Safari for Mac and iOS).

Same troubles for me on Tapatalk Ron. It also seems to be a little random but maybe that's just me not paying attention.

So I did a test in Firefox on my iMac.

When I paste a link in my post and submit or preview it, Firefox recognises it as a hyperlink.

I have posted a link between the sentences. No tags. And it works in Firefox and in Tapatalk.

Now I paste a link in Tapatalk - again, no tags.

http://www.bushwalking.org.au/

Beween the sentences. Invisible!

But view in Safari on my iPad and it is visible.

So Tapatalk does not recognise a link unless it is tagged.
