It is a great and useful feature on other forums.

Could make a great addition here. Thoughts Matt (and others????)?

Too many quotes gets messy and it's hard to see who's said what.... I notice some people do know a way around it though.....
Nothing to see here.

It's possible to just do it yourself using appropriate BB code, no?

I think it's un-helpful for a forum in general as it messes up the branching of threads. However, it can be very useful and valid at times. Rather than promoting it, those needing it can easily achieve the same just by learning to use,
1) Copy and paste.
2) [quote][/quote]
Just move it!

The forum is currently set to enable up to 3 embedded quotes.
Example -
Code: Select all
[quote]Quote1[/quote]

Quote1

Code: Select all
[quote][quote]Quote1[/quote]
Quote2[/quote]

Quote1

Quote2

Code: Select all
[quote][quote][quote]Quote1[/quote]
Quote2[/quote]Quote3[/quote]

Quote1

Quote2
Quote3

You can also add names to the quotes, which is by default a username when quoting their post. The word "wrote" will appear when using names like this -

Code: Select all
[quote="He, in a reply"][quote="She, in a different message"][quote="They all"]Quote1[/quote]
Quote2[/quote]Quote3[/quote]

He, in a reply wrote:
She, in a different message wrote:
They all wrote:Quote1

Quote2
Quote3

Any more and you get this when you post or preview:

You may embed only 3 quotes within each other.

What exactly do you mean by "multiple-quote feature"?

To quote two different posts. (1) Go to the first post and in that post click the "QUOTE" button.

With the usual result
Strider wrote:Can we please have a multiple-quote feature MODS?

(2) Edit the quote as desired. Leave the cursor on a last line of the edit window.

(3) Then scroll down below the "EDIT" window to find the "TOPIC REVIEW". Scroll that window until you find the second post you wish to quote and click the "QUOTE" button in that quote.

(4) The text from the chosen post will appear in your edit window. Edit this second quote as desired.

Is that what you meant by multiple quotes?

(5) You can repeat steps 3 & 4 as many times as you wish.

The above is quicker than copy & paste. :)

Thanks WalkinTas!

Tasadam - some forums have the option to quote more than one post at a time. As individual quotes, not as a string.

Thanks WalkingTas! Never knew you could do that.

Copying and pasting can get hard/messy if you are dealing with multiple posts/have lots of tabs open (I seem to have ~50 at the moment... don't ask)

I thought I was messy
I normally open each post I wish to quote in a new tab, edit in that tab, copy the text then close the tab, go back to the tab I am making the master edit in.
I don't often need to quote from multiple posts in the one reply.
