Grand Final Photo Competitions VOTE NOW

Postby Son of a Beach » Mon 15 Apr, 2013 10:03 am

The winners of the 12 monthly competitions and the extra 5 preliminary competitions have been collated in each of the "Tasmania" and "Australia" (Other States) categories. So please vote for up to THREE of your favourite entries in the grand final photo of the year competitions for Australia 2012 and Tasmania 2012.

Isn't Taranaki in New Zealand? If so, shouldn't it be Australia & New Zealand 2012?

Also, we've had 4 comps running this year (Landscape, Non Landscape, Tasmania and Other States (inc NZ)) - but only the monthly photos from Tasmania and Other States make it into the final. What about those from the Landscape comp in particular, which is kind of supposed to be the most prestigious of the 4. Even if they got split up among the Australia/Tasmania finals depending on where they were taken, that would be OK.

Or are the winners of the Australia & Tasmania comps going to get added to the Landscape comp winners in the Grand Grand Final!?

It's a good point Tom. Traditionally, the Australia grand final sourced photos from the predecessor to the "Other States" monthlies. The 'Landscape' and 'non-Landscape' categories are new, but entries there probably would have otherwise been entered into the other competitions.

I'll have to discuss with admins here and see if we should create another two grand finals.

Yes, Taranaki is in New Plymouth in NZ? How does that qualify?

Well to be fair, the penguins were also taken in NZ.

New Zealand photos have always been permitted in the Australian photo competitions (it is in the rules). Sure it's not part of Australia, but many Australians spend a lot of time there, especially bushwalkers.

I don't mind it, but the name is strange then. Doesn't cost much to change it to "Australia & NZ" (or to have a NZ section in the forum).
