With all the snow on the mountain we decided to go for a drive up there. Seems half of Hobart had the same idea, it took us about 1/2hr just to get from Shoobridge bend to the Springs.

I remember those days... Good fun!
You should have seen the Cradle area today! And as we were leaving the Lodge late afternoon, the fire alarm was going off and everyone started pouring out of the building. Hope that was a false alarm!

Best to walk up, there's a track all the way from the brewery

That probably would have been quicker yesterday. It's on my list to do one day. I've never seen it so busy, in the end I think they had to stop cars from going up for a while because were already so many up there.

We used to live at Fern Tree, and dreaded those days. Cranky, anxious and impatient people trying too hard to have fun. But worse was the cry that went up after every decent snowfall: "See ... we need a cable car!" I suspect Hobart might just have shown itself too green for such a proposal to ever get up (fingers crossed!! :!: :!: )

Walking up from Fern Tree or going to Neika and playing on the Pipeline Track became our alternatives. Plus one year we walked up at night, using torches and moonlight. I'll never forget the tinkling icicles we brushed past on the Zig Zag track. Ain't snow grand :?: :!:

cheers
