Hi guys
Can you believe it's been a whole 12 months (well almost) since our last 'coffee catch-up' which was held at Blue Cafe last year?!?! (22nd of August 2009). I was talking to another forum member recently and we both agreed that it would be fun to get back together again for another chat and to see what everyone's been up to this past year!
So if you're interested, I've proposed a few dates in the meet-up tool, please select your preferences or feel free to propose another day/date/time by replying to this post. I have also selected a few different venues where it could be possible to meet - fairly central to Launceston with good parking.....
http://bushwalk.com/meetup/meet.php?id=112Like last time, we could possibly meet at around 11am (or whatever is convenient for the majority of attendees) and hang out for an hour or so.........so check out your diaries and let me know if anyone's keen!!
I look forward to seeing you all again!!
Phil

Great idea Phil. I really enjoyed it last year. Hopefully I can get baby-sitting this time, and not have to worry about a 1 year old on my knee all morning.
People in other states, and other parts of Tasmania, should consider doing this too. It was a good casual meet up for about 10 Launceston members (and one from Devonport) last time we did it.

I put my name in the hat, but will be on-call (work) so I might not make it anyhow. So don't go changing dates because of me. I'm a ring-in anyhow (Devonport).

Make it Campbell town and I'll come.
Though I guess I could plan a trip to the Dial range over that weekend....

Launceston is the place to be Mark; I'm sure you could make the trip.......I reckon a few other southerners should make a weekend of it too! It'd be great to meet a few of you from the other end of the state!!
Here's some incentive for you Mark; I just checked and the Hawks are playing against the Dockers at 2:10 on Saturday the 21st of August at Aurora Stadium which is one of the proposed dates for the meet-up.........what a day - catch up with us guys and then see the hawks play in the arvo!!

That's almost enough to make me jump on a plane that morning - except that I'm 99.99999999999999999999% positive I'll be working that day.

Doesn't matter how sick I am, I won't be going anywhere but work until I've paid for the repairs to the car.
Errrrr . . . anyone wanna beat up my mechanic so he
a) gets the thing finished tomorrow and
b) only charges me $2,000 instead of the possible $3,500 ?

What happened to your car?
I had 3 breakdowns and 2K worth of repairs in a 3 week period recently.....

Tell ya what... you come down to the meet up, and I'll sell you our new car (bought last weekend) for $2,000. No, make that $1,500, to allow for your travel costs both ways.
(I'd still make a profit!). Not sure if the wife would agree to this, plan though... she quite likes the new bomb.

sounds like its just as well you folks are into walkin!
Fri 30 Jul, 2010 8:58 am
We'd need to be into walking if the footy's on and the coffee shop is anywhere near the footy ground... Parking!

Cube at Seaport looks like its getting the most votes so far; parking won;t be a problem there at 11am. Footy starts at 2.
Fri 30 Jul, 2010 2:51 pm
Am I going to be able to find either the footy ground or this coffee shop if I come up??
After all im just a senseless southerner.....

Awesome, thanks Nik.

Mark:
I've been having problems with the cooling system for months. I'd ruled out the head gasket 'cause the oil wasn't frothing. Almost everything had been replaced or repaired, including all the hoses, the radiator, the thermostat, the radiator cap . . .
. . . in the end, the head had to come off. Turns out the *&%$#! thing was bowed and as soon as the system was warmed up and fully pressurised with a bit of a load on, the coolant started leaking out. Fortunately it wasn't getting into the cylinders, so there's no damage to the motor. But the head's now been replaced, ditto the timing belt and water pump. And I'm $3,000 poorer than I was. So much for getting that snorkel fitted.
Nik:
Thanks, but I'm sure your missus would rather keep it, and I've shelled out too much on The Beast now to even think of offloading it until I've gotten my money's worth.

I'd like to come, but I haven't put a preferred date as I have no idea what I'm doing when. Looked at my calendar and there's nothing on it for August but I don't think that's quite right...
Sat 31 Jul, 2010 8:57 am
August 21 is election day.

Not even coffee will keep our spirits up by then!!!
When you have got a day that suits I will look at what's going on and try and get up - no preferences as to place/date.

You can always apply for a postal vote:
http://www.aec.gov.au/election/pva.htmOther options are voting at an electoral office during the days prior or attending a polling booth out of area.
Sat 31 Jul, 2010 2:08 pm
Sounds like voting on the way to the meet up will work out nicely then!
Sat 31 Jul, 2010 10:48 pm
It really is tempting, although someone would have to pick me up at the airport, and drop me off again after the game.
And I'm really not very good company in person, certainly not worth all that effort.
Besides, we'd probably lose and then the return trip would be just toooooo depressing.
Sat 31 Jul, 2010 10:49 pm
After todays game im re-considering going up to watch them.
Sat 31 Jul, 2010 10:53 pm
Pffft. I was all set to bugger off up the Howqua hills for the night and do MacDonald tomorrow, when Bren buzzes me to pick him up at the train station 'cause he had tickets for the Bloodyslow.
What a waste of a weekend; we were bound to lose and he's not even into rugby! I just don't understand men sometimes.
Wed 04 Aug, 2010 4:57 pm
Only a couple of weeks away now; at this stage the numbers tell us that we will be meeting on Saturday the 21st (election day) at Cube (down at the Seaport). If you're thinking of coming, please use the meet-up tool to make your vote count!!
Thu 12 Aug, 2010 11:03 pm
What a great idea! Would love to come along, Guys, but as always seems to be the case, I'm busy on all the suggested days. Bugger!
Taking a new walking friend up Quamby Bluff on the 21st, feeding calves on the 22nd, heading to Lady Lake to check out the stars on the 27-28th, then heading to Mt Buller the next day to play in the white stuff!
Look forward to the next one...
