Optus mobile reception in Devonport & Ulverstone

Postby Jellybean » Thu 01 Jul, 2010 5:40 pm

Hi,

Could anyone please tell me what mobile reception is like in Devonport and, especially, Ulverstone for Optus users? (The reason I ask is, on a trip to Tassie late last year - Launnie, Cradle, WoJ, Bay of Fires, Wineglass Bay, Hobart - we only got reception in Launnie, Deloraine and Hobart/vicinity of Hobart, nowhere else).

Thanks!

CHeers,

JB

Been a few years since I was on optus but back then (& not much has changed that I know of) Devonport and Ulverstone were mostly okay. West Ulverstone was patchy and so are areas around Don and parts of the highway between.
So I'd say mostly covered but black spots are also plentiful. Just don't leave the major towns. ;)

I think you will find things have improved [though being out in the sticks I have no choice but telstra] I understand Optus has a transmitter @ Burnie and increased capacity in general along the route from Hobart to Burnie with as previously stated blackspot areas, but once away from these areas you're in the hands of Telstra.
