Corvus, Corvus, Corvus, what are we going to do with you! :D WMV means that it is a Windows Media Video file and should play in the Media Player that comes with Windows. Click the link, download and open in Media Player.

SWF and Flash are the same thing. This is a movie format that can play inside your web browser. You need to have the adobe flash plugin installed. This is a painless procedure, so no aesthetics required - just click here to download, then close your browser, run the downloaded exe file and restart your browser. With the plugin installed you can just click a flash movie and it will play in the browser.

Sorry - this thread unintentionally turned into Techno Babble. If I'd know where it might end up I'd have posted it there. :)
Then again, podcast should have been a hint eh!

Totally OT: I remember when my kids were young I used to buy them video games and install them on the computer. And being a good dad I would then sit up half the night playing the game - just to learn it so I could show it to them. :P Well one night I installed hero quest and played it half the night until I got to level two. Then I dragged my *&%$#! off to bed and slept until 11 the next morning. The boys met me in the Kitchen all excited about the new game. "So you like it then" "Yeah we are already up to level three". I never ever showed them how to play another game on the PC.

Just in case there's any other odd-bods out there, like me... if you're using Mac OS X, you just need to download and install the free "Perian" (System Preferences pane), and WMV files will play in any Quicktime compatible application (eg, Quicktime Player, Front Row, etc).

Perhaps we could change Gearus-Freakius superbus to something more, well, pissiumous?
Something like Technicalus non comprehendus?

Seriously though, what exactly do you mean by "an additional thingi"?
Do you want a button in the forum to click on that will play the movie, or do you want an area for "Non-bushwalk related, technical help for non IT people" type posts?
Or did you have something else in mind?

Best I can do -

This is the button to help you play the movie

This is the button to learn all things technical.

This is an alternate button to learn things... including some technical things.

Getting a bit off topic now. Will leave it to Nik to advance on this score...

None of the above buttons will actually play the movie for you though. In the case that you cant be bothered reading how windowns media is trying to #@%*&! on wikipedia then just click the bellow button and watch the movie ;)

HERE IT IS >>>BUTTON<<< CLICK IT DAMNIT

I think its pretty safe to assume you are using a computer with windows on it...and most of these will have media player (unless whoever set it up had sommat against you) and your browser should just pick up the link and play it. You may have to click yes to a couple of things first...all good :D

Mr Green - some people think big cheek grin, some extreme happiness or lots of mirth, some because he is green think envy, but it would have to be a sort of ironic envy. In this case I used :mr green: because it went with the quote (The Mask).

As the introductor of ipood I annoint you and request that you disseminate your devine knowledge world wide (p.s. why not link this site to the sea to summit one as promoters of their gear if possible) I intend to keep my Ipood in its almost virginal state (its out of the packet) but have let several males fondle the one I bought and they all said MUST HAVE ONE :D
So intend to be poo free from now on  to preseve my nice new Ipood.

Nothing says revolting quite like undies on the outside.
