Hydro power-walking

I'm exhausted
I just finished a 90 minutewalk in the localpools deep water walking lane
My GP suggested non loadbearing walking as my best exercise while waiting for my hip rebuild.
It took me about 20 minute to warm up and at the end of the first 60 minutes I was really breathing quite heavily but I decided to keep going for as long as I could.
how much extra resistance does walking in waist deep water add to the regime? because even as hard as I pushed it was taking me 60 seconds for every 25metre lap of the walking pool, that's 40 minute per kilometre and I would normally walk at least twice that fast as a slow amble

Water is approximately 800 times denser than air (from memory). Corrections accepted as I can't be bothered digging out all my notes on this stuff.
I seem to recall being told that it takes at least 8 times the energy to make the same movement in water as on dry land, all else being equal.

If that is true than it is no wonder I was sweating. I'll rest up tomorrow and head back Saturday AM because Saturday is when the tadpoles have the swimming lessons

I've been keeping up the water walking on an occasional basis and it's helped a lot with strength and mobility issues
Surgery for the hip orthotic in 2 weeks now.
18th of January is the date, not looking forward to 4 days of hospital food tho so Cecile will be bringing in picnic packs and lots of condiments in small bottles
Recovery will be an exercise in patience tho but the surgeon says my strength will make it much easier.
I am so tired of living on powerful analgesics and being cranky and sleepy all the time
