Half your luck.
After a very mild winter and the calmest and most stable September/October weather I can remember, Tassie has decided to go all Springtime on me. It's going from blattering rain and cold, gusty winds to sunshine and back every ten minutes.

Um... That new colour for the map is from early 2013!

I agree it's been unseasonably warm, but let's not exaggerate something that doesn't need it.

Nope. I'm suggesting that we don't represent a past event as a present alarm. It's warm enough without making it sound alarmingly warmer than it is.

Although my temp guage says it's 11.3C out there right now. :?

Agreed, I didn't see the date on that external link, no sense in gilding the lilly...

I don't think it's alarmingly warmer and I don't believe there is that inevitable (GW) upward trend. We do seem to have a period of large variability and perhaps better data recordings do highlight this fact. But what's a few years when a more accurate trend analysis should involve 100's even 1,000's of years for an accurate prediction. I guess that's where ice core drilling come into it's own...

I wonder if the jetstream being all over the place here has anything to do with it? :)

Not here, we reached a whole 14.6 today :( At least it rained a bit though, it has been very dry. Yesterday however, we went to Ross for a bike show and it got to 24.8 degrees, rather uncomfortable in motorbike gear. It's showing signs of being a hot summer, when the sun comes out and the wind stops it's warm.

SA and Vic are looking a bit warm compared to everywhere else.

Hopefully that changes soon so the fires can be dealt with.

They call them seasons. Summer, autumn, winter, spring . . . happens every year.

With most major world weather bureaus coming to the same conclusion, it would appear we are in for our first El Niño event for 5 years.

Doesn't necessarily mean hot and dry, but quite likely for most of the continent.

The last one gave us a major drought. Not good for the economy and not good for the garden.

In Tassie they're the bits that argue over who gets the larger slice when they divide up what is supposed to be summer.

Yes I'm a Tassie lover too; having lived in Wales and Scotland the weather for me (Hobart) is just about right...
